Ryn lies between Lake Ołów and Lake Ryńskie, and that is exactly how it is best seen. Not only the castle, not only the marina. We suggest walking both shores and noticing how different the two sides are. From Carpe Diem it is 25 minutes by bike, and under half an hour by car.
On the Ołów side there is a beach and a very good bathing area. The water is very clean and a recreational path runs around the lake. You can come here for a walk, or simply get into the water and stay a while longer.
The Ryńskie side has a completely different character: a sailing waterfront, jetties, a marina and plenty of places to eat. Right on the quay we have two tried-and-tested addresses.
Pizza Marconi is a family-run food trailer by the lake. They make Neapolitan pizza, use their own dough and buy from local suppliers. The second address is Rybka u Pana Roberta. The street food is prepared on the spot and is genuinely fresh. There is no sign outside, so the name is worth remembering. We recommend both places not only for the food — they are run by people who give them their character.
Between the lakes stands a 14th-century Teutonic castle. Today it houses a hotel and a conference centre, but it can be visited with a guide. The tour leads through four wings, and there is a viewing tower looking out over the surrounding lakes and forests. It is worth checking the opening hours before you go.
For half a day Ryn is more than enough: two lakes, something good along the way, and the castle as the point between them.
