Story
The best dinners begin long before anyone sits down. Someone is chopping vegetables, someone is checking the pot, someone is opening the wine, and someone is just standing nearby, getting in the way in the best possible sense. At Carpe Diem the kitchen is part of that rhythm, not a room tucked away at the back.
The olive-green fronts sit well with the wood and the light. They do not shout and they do not chase a wow effect. They simply belong — to the house, to the forest behind the fence, to the quieter colours of Masuria. The kitchen is fully equipped, so you can cook the way you cook at home: breakfast for the children, pasta for eight, dinner after a whole day on the bikes.
Then everything moves to the big wooden table. It is made from hundred-year-old timber, so it carries something you cannot order from a catalogue. Above it hang old metal lamps — Marta cleaned and painted them by hand, Rafał made a mount and wiring for each one. That is how things are done here.
This is where the long conversations happen, and the second helpings, and the photographs taken half by accident once everyone is finally sitting together.
